"BOOM!" by David Kracov erupts with the energy of a comic book's climactic scene, channeling the raw power of narrative illustrations. As a standout in Kracov's "Comics Explosion" series, this creation features the word "BOOM" in a resounding red, symbolizing an explosive sound that leaps off the wall and into the viewer's space. The typography is masterfully shaped to mimic the shockwave of a real explosion, with each letter contributing to the overall impact. This dynamic form captures the essence of action and reaction - the literal and figurative shockwaves that resonate through the moments of our lives. Kracov's skill turns the two-dimensional language of comics into a three-dimensional spectacle, inviting viewers to feel the reverberation of a "BOOM!" that is both a narrative device and a visual spectacle.
Born in Boston, David Kracov studied at the Rhode Island School of Design and began his career in animation with the Brad Pitt feature, ‘Cool World.’ David went on to work with Disney Animation, Don Bluth Animation, Rich Animation, as well as several other studios, before beginning his solo work as a sculptor and painter. Kracov’s vibrant color palette shows up in his unique steel wall sculptures that begin with hundreds of small sketches. David’s meticulous steel work along with his scrutinizing attention to detail allows his sculptures to take on a life of their own, and his famous butterflies take flight. David’s playful and creative works are each a testament to his steady hand and wonderfully unique artistic ideas. His work brings joy and humor to pop art.
