"Heart Beats" by David Kracov is a celebration of music and its pulse in the rhythm of life, rendered as a three-layer heart-shaped sculpture. Fashioned from galvanized metallic elements that resemble vinyl records, each record is meticulously painted with acrylics, bringing the nostalgic medium into a new era of art. The records overlap to form the shape of a heart, symbolizing the deep connection between love and the timeless tunes that soundtrack our most cherished moments. This fusion of materials and motifs speaks to the heart's rhythm, a steady beat that echoes the grooves of a well-loved vinyl. Kracov's sculpture is a visual melody that pays homage to the universal language of music, an art form that, much like love, can move and uplift us, transcending barriers and touching our souls.
Born in Boston, David Kracov studied at the Rhode Island School of Design and began his career in animation with the Brad Pitt feature, ‘Cool World.’ David went on to work with Disney Animation, Don Bluth Animation, Rich Animation, as well as several other studios, before beginning his solo work as a sculptor and painter. Kracov’s vibrant color palette shows up in his unique steel wall sculptures that begin with hundreds of small sketches. David’s meticulous steel work along with his scrutinizing attention to detail allows his sculptures to take on a life of their own, and his famous butterflies take flight. David’s playful and creative works are each a testament to his steady hand and wonderfully unique artistic ideas. His work brings joy and humor to pop art.
