The world is filled with so much natural beauty and we need to admire the delicate wonders of nature as much as possible.
On June 15th, millions of photographers and photography lovers across the United States celebrate Nature Photography Day. The North American Nature Photography Association (NANPA), a non-profit organization that promotes nature photography, created this day so that people can capture the breathtaking wonders on earth. The NANPA wants to push people to uncover the beauty the earth has to offer through the use of a camera lens. NANPA created Nature Photography Day as an opportunity to remind people to protect the natural world. They promote nature photography as a way to preserve and conserve plants, wildlife, and landscapes while also promoting appreciation for the beautiful aspects of our natural environment.
While Nature Photography Day signifies seeing beauty on earth through a camera lens, artists at Eden gallery place their unique spin on appreciating the world around them through integrating nature in their artwork. SN, one of Eden Gallery’s most powerful mixed media artists, incorporates different cultures and geological areas in his nature-focused artworks. His pieces include dynamic black-and-white photographs of different animals and cultures that are brought to life through 3D butterflies. SN began his lifelong appreciation for the wonders of the world when he was just 12 years old. He traded his bicycle for his first-ever DSLR camera and fell in love with taking raw images of nature. SN began capturing inspiring pieces that highlighted the world's natural beauties, leading him to a career as a professional photographer. Through his camera lens and his exceptional eye for photography, SN was able to catch wild animals in their natural habits, drawing attention to the animals and the beauty that surrounds them. SN also goes beyond the obvious image through evoking emotion within each photograph, transporting viewers to places they can not go. Expressing his love for nature through photography was only the beginning. In 2006, SN introduced a new collection of mixed media artworks. The pieces included features such as mounted butterflies, acrylic paintings, and charcoal drawings. The butterflies help SN navigate a world full of contrary concepts. He explores this notion through creating pieces such as skulls and AK-47s that are covered in vibrant butterflies. Although skulls and AK-47s are symbols of death and violence, by coating them in one of the most delicate and beautiful creatures on earth, SN brings forth the paradoxical relationship between life and death, sending a message to his viewers that goes beyond what is simply portrayed in the photograph.
Nature is so awe-inspiring, and SN is one of many artists at Eden Gallery who use the beauty of nature to enhance their artwork. Through artists including the wonderful aspects of nature in their art, it allows others to view the world's beauty.
