In Art Blog, Metis Atash
As an exceptional artist who expertly blends traditional and modern art styles to create stunning sculptures that are aesthetically pleasing and thought-provoking. Metis Atash's unique approach to art challenges norms and explores innovative ideas, resulting in one-of-a-kind pieces that reflect her devotion and passion for art, design, and fashion.
Atash's artwork often features elements from ancient mythology and spiritual beliefs, which she combines with contemporary and fashionable designs. This unique combination creates a harmonious marriage between the traditional and the modern and results in artwork that is not only visually striking but also meaningful.
One of Atash's main artistic goals is to elevate herself spiritually and create oneness with herself and others. She infuses this energy and spirituality into each sculpture, which results in a deeper connection with the viewer. For example, in her sculpture ‘Elephant Painted Dreams,' she uses the elephant, a sacred Buddhist animal, as a symbol of strength, wisdom, and mindfulness. She then adorns the elephant with Swarovski crystals in a bold and colorful pattern, adding glamour and fashion to the artwork.
Atash uses Buddhist symbols heavily in her artwork, particularly the Buddha. She often depicts the Buddha in the meditation posture, wearing a robe with a contemporary design relevant to popular culture. For example, in her sculpture 'Punkbuddha Here, There and Everywhere,' the Buddha is adorned with a pink robe with words like “dream,” “life,” and “passion.” She also has many Buddha sculptures wearing robes with pictures of pop artists.
In addition to using traditional symbols, Atash is inspired by pop art and minimalism. Pop art, which emerged in the mid-1950s, is characterized by popular culture imagery and mass media themes. Atash incorporates this style into her sculptures by adding popular culture references, giving the Buddha sculptures ironic facial expressions, or adding a touch of humor to her pieces. An excellent example of this is her sculpture 'Funkybuddha Humble Hustle,' which features a Buddha with a robe that says “Humble Hustle,” and is making a peace sign with a silly facial expression.
Overall, Atash's unique approach to art makes her an absolute genius and boundary pusher in the art world. Her sculptures are posh, avant-garde, and simply stunning, and they broaden the creative possibilities.
